Our Organization

Founded by James H. Lewis in 1996, Reborn Assistance Association is based on the idea that by giving a man; housing, food, clothing and assistance he could then be able to help himself. He could then focus on the transition from being just released from prison and homeless to becoming a productive member of society.  In 1997 Reborn Assistance Association earned its standing as a non-profit and has been helping men succeed for more than twenty years.
Reborn Assistance is a federally registered, non-profit (501-C3), non-denominational organization providing transitional housing/Halfway house and other essential services to men that are homeless and coming from prison. Reborn Assistance works closely with and has strong ties with local ministries and community resources. Reborn aids clients in meeting basic needs. We provide assistance with food, clothing vouchers, and bus passes, job search, life skills, and development of a strong support system. The typical length of stay for men in our transitional/ halfway housing is 3-4 months. With multiple locations throughout Phoenix, Reborn Assistance Association helps hundreds of men each year. The combination of supportive housing, life skills, services and referrals helps to empower clients to reach their goals and re-establish their lives.

"They have changed my life for the better."

Hello, my name is Tracy Anderson. First of all, I spent 28 years of my life in prison, and didn't know anything of the free world. Once I was released some 7 months ago, I came to Reborn Assistance, who helped fight for my release. So that shows a lot about the owner Ken Lewis, as well as his managers. They all have helped me to the best of their abilities, and continue to do so.

They are a very positive type of people and have to deal with ex-convicts on a daily basis; but they do all they can do to help us succeed in free and sober living. I could never really repay any of them, except by doing what I'm doing today. I started scared of the free world, and still am a little it, but if I have any questions, the owner and the managers are there to ask for help.

In the time I have been out, Reborn Assistance has seen me get a good job, get my Drivers License, a car, clothes, etc. I would tell anyone that Reborn Assistance has been, and always will be a part of my life. We need more places that will help people grow and want to see people they don't even know live a better life.

They all need a thank you for what they have started. I would recommend Reborn Assistance to anyone who wants to succeed in life and change their lifestyle. I am so honored to have lived at Reborn Assistance. They changed my life for the better.

-Tracy Anderson
